A ONE AND A HALF HOUR BURLESQUE EXPERIENCE (to include striptease techniques): COST: £30 per person 
*Learn the art of glove removal from an industry professional.
*Learn to create a basic burlesque routine along with the help of our friendly tutor, and then your expert tutor will show you how to teasingly take off a pair of opera length gloves whilst explaining the importance of this item of clothing within the Burlesque World.

SECRETS OF THE BOUDOIR BURLESQUE 

Supernova 

Secrets of the Boudoir Burlesque will return with their premium event ‘Secrets of the Boudoir Burlesque Supernova’ this Summer. 

 Taking place in Sheffield's oldest live music venue, The Leadmill, on Saturday the 12th July 2014. Founded in 1980, The Leadmill has hosted some of the biggest live acts in the world and 'Supernova' will be no exception as it hosts the best in British burlesque talent on the circuit today. 

 Regarded as Sheffield’s most fun, friendly and affordable burlesque show, Secrets of the Boudoir Burlesque remains true to Burlesque’s 19th century roots and showcases a style of performance art which incorporates a blend of satire, striptease and broad comedy into a uniquely entertaining Variety Show. Performers and audience members alike, return time after time to enjoy the nostalgic and glamorous atmosphere created by the event, which is reminiscent of old Music Hall and Speakeasy days gone by. 

 ‘Supernova’ aims to raise the bar even higher by showcasing award-winning burlesque acts from all across the country in Sheffield’s oldest live music venue on a glamorous Saturday evening. There will be burlesque, boylesque, dance, vaudeville, fire, comedy, magic, pole dance, cabaret, circus and striptease acts throughout the event. 

 Our headlining act of the evening is the epitome of vintage glamour, Eliza DeLite. Eliza has sky-rocketed since she first hit the stage in 2008. In 2012 she was crowned ‘Best British Female’ at the World Burlesque Games and has since gone on to perform internationally, including at high profile shows in Las Vegas, Milan, Stockholm, Rome, Switzerland, Istanbul and Berlin. She has established herself as one of the most in-demand performers on the UK circuit, headlining respectable shows across the country and overseas! Her classic Hollywood looks combined with stunning costumes and breathtaking choreography mean that Eliza is a firm favourite with lovers of classic and neo burlesque alike. This July, Eliza will perform the award-winning act which saw her crowned as ‘Best British Female’, as well as one other which has not yet been seen by South Yorkshire audiences. 

 Joining Eliza will be Al Rudge, and he is one of the most original and bizarre acts to invade the magic and variety scene. His fast paced, razor wit and whirlwind approach to comedy magic has made him a hit. Al has played clubs, burlesque balls, parties, the streets and private functions from London to New York and never fails to leave the audience amazed and laughing. Whether it is, stand up, television or corporate, Al never fails to keep the audience laughing and applauding all the way. Al has opened for the likes of: Alan Carr, Lenny Henry, Jo Brand, Slade, Frost, Rolf Harris, Archie Kelly, John Hegley, Garry Delaney and many more familiar names of television and music. 

 Next on the bill is the spell-binding Satine Di Monte and her dance partner, Animus. Satine is a unique Burlesque Performer. Known for her tantalizing and dazzling acts and she has been performing since July 09. 2010 saw Satine in the ‘UK’s Top 7 Best New Burlesque performers’ in both ‘Delicious’, ‘Ministry of Burlesque’ and ‘Madame JoJo’s’ competitons, and she was also in SKY 1′s ‘Got to Dance’ as well as ‘Britain’s Got Talent’. 

 Secrets’ resident Showgirl, Raven Noir, will also join the bill. Raven is a Graduate of the Secrets of the Boudoir Burlesque Course and a you could say she is a star pupil, after taking to the stage in 2012 she quickly became a well known and popular performer on the burlesque circuit and has since become an international performer when she undertook a 44 show engagement in Australia earlier this year. She can now boast performances in Italy and Paris, as well as an appearance on National television. See her debut a much anticipated BRAND NEW bed of nails act at Supernova this July... 

 No Secrets of the Boudoir Burlesque event would be complete without a performance from its Founder and creator, Deadly Nightshade, an established Performer, Promoter, Pin up Model and Burlesque Tutor. Deadly has appeared on stages up and down the country for the past six years. Star of many Burlesque documentaries and publications, Deadly has featured in ‘Burlesque Bible’ as a recommended Burlesque Tutor, and she has also appeared on the TV with the BBC and Channel 4. 

 Our Boylesque this Summer is provided by none other than Secrets of the Boudoir Burlesque regular and Personal Trainer, Sir Midnight Blues. Sir Midnight Blues shows us how boylesque and burlesque should be done. With his mix of strip tease and pole dance and a body to die for, he is a unique King of boylesque and he will be taking his pole dance INTO the audience this July as the stage just simply will not suffice for such an amazing act! 

 To complete the bill we have performances from Penny Feathers, a burlesque and cabaret dancer with over 5 years experience on the burlesque scene. Penny’s acts vary from comedy to cute cheesecake and she brings her bubbly and cheeky personality to Secrets of the Boudoir Burlesque this July with her dynamic and energetic performances. 

 Our Compere for the evening will be winner of ‘Burlesque Idol’ 2012, Violet Blaze. A dynamic performer from Brighton, England, Violet brings life to the stage in a flash! With wit and charisma, Violet will surely humour you at Supernova this July where she will make her Compering debut! Having made her USA debut at the Pennsylvania Burlesque Festival and with shows booked in Barcelona and Paris, Violet is officially Blazing WorldWide!

Secrets of the Boudoir Burlesque returns to The Leadmill this July with our premium sell-out Burlesque and Variety Show, ‘Supernova’.

Raven Noir is a deliciously dark showgirl with a hint of gothic elegance, once described as the embodiment of old New Orleans. After taking to the stage in 2012 she quickly became a well known and popular performer on the burlesque circuit finally becoming international in 2014 when she undertook a 44 show engagement in Australia before becoming a hit in Paris. Raven prides herself on top class visually stunning costumes working closely with some of the best costumiers in the business. After appearing on National television, as well as winning numerous awards Raven Noir continues to wow audiences both nationally and internationally.

A Secrets of the Boudoir Burlesque regular, Personal Trainer, Sir Midnight Blues brings something a little bit different to the burlesque and variety scenes. Our headliner, Miss Odelia Opium grew bored of life in her German hometown of Lieblingen and so she ran away with the Midnight Circus. Now she knows that Victorian goodtime girls have more fun! Since 2011 she has performed at many renowned venues across London and the UK. Her unique, story-telling routines are sure to excite every audience and give you a history lesson of the sexy kind! Australian burlesque performer, Ava Iscariot typically combines her innocent, blonde curled, cherubic appearance with a strikingly contrasting dark, deviant and feisty nature. One Day Beginners Burlesque Course

We have been teaching our infamous ‘fun, friendly and affordable’ Burlesque Courses since 2011, producing pupils that have gone on to be very popular and successful Burlesque Performers such as Raven Noir. Secrets are passionate about teaching REAL burlesque skills and allowing our pupils to develop their own character and confidence, as a result of this, we DO NOT teach dance. If you are looking for a group dance class then our lessons might not be for you, our emphasis is on fun and individuality, not regiment and we prefer to focus on the more exciting burlesque skills such as stocking and glove removal, corsetry, character and confidence building.

Our tutors are Secrets Founder, Deadly Nightshade and Secrets Performer, Cherry Du Bois, their combined credentials include seven years performance and modelling experience and six years experience of showcasing very successful burlesque events and coaching new performers. Their success and reputable skills have been noted by the ‘Burlesque Bible’ and past pupils alike.

 Our One Day Beginners Burlesque Course aims to teach an in-depth look at the World of Burlesque through the eyes of a beginner. The course will aim to give you an understanding of burlesque, boost your body confidence and general confidence, help you to keep fit, feel sexy and have fun!

Tutors: Cherry and Deadly

We will begin with an introduction to burlesque and it’s history, before moving on to learning a few basic Burlesque poses and putting them all together to create a Burlesque routine. We will then add in glove and stocking removal with a workshop on Confidence and character-building at the end.

The Course will be five hours long and this will include an hour’s break made up of two fifteen minutes and half an hour. It will take place in the upstairs room in The Shakespeare, 146 -148 Gibralter Street, Sheffield, S3 8UB.

Please bring your own pair of opera length gloves and a pair of cheap or old stockings.

We would suggest that you wear/bring a short sleeved top and a skirt/shorts/hotpants (for ease of stocking removal) and a pair of heeled shoes. Please feel free to embrace the Vintage look by dressing glamorously if you wish, but please do not wear anything that will restrict your movement like a corset or a pencil skirt. Keep clothing loose.

Feel free to bring a bottle of water with you and snacks or a packed lunch.

Secrets are proud to announce that we are taking over The Leadmill again on Saturday 3rd August 2013 and filling it full of glamour and decadence.

We have cabaret style seating and theatre style seating for those that would like to sit, and we also have standing space. In addition, anyone who purchases a ticket to the show will gain FREE ENTRY into The Leadmill club night after our Supernova event.

This Rock N Roll redhead will get you hot under the collar with her sizzling stage presence and smouldering gaze, not to mention the fact that she plays with fire! From a Hot Rod greaser-girl to a B movie Cobra Queen Scarlett Daggers’ acts certainly make her stand out from the crowd. SHE is also the creator of (and resident performer at) Nottingham’s biggest burlesque and cabaret show “The Gilded Merkin”, held every three months at the Glee Club.

Scarlett is bringing a debut act to Secrets this August called ‘Tiki Tiki Boom’ which will be a visually stunning Tiki-themed fire performance that you can see here at Secrets of the Boudoir Burlesque first before anyone else!

Flixx Démontrant certainly lives up to his name, for he is one of many up-and-coming boylesque performers who are appearing on the burlesque and cabaret scene around the UK. But this is not just boylesque, Flixx is taking it to a new level, with his character based acts that are often dark and comedic with a rock & roll attitude.

An established Performer, Promoter, Pin up Model and Burlesque Teacher, “Deadly Nightshade is one of the brightest stars in the starry firmament of the cabaret and vaudeville sky” and has appeared on stages up and down the country from London to Preston. Star of many Burlesque documentaries and publications, Deadly has worked with many reputable companies, including Channel 4 and the BBC. Deadly will debut a brand new act at Supernova this August as a treat for her fans.

A professional Burlesque Performer for nearly four years , Gloucestershire based Kitty has graced many a stage across the country including spots at Kinky and Quirky, Madame Jo Jo’s and The Missy Malone & Friends Revue. Last year she selected to perform at The World Burlesque Games in London and the year before she won the title of Miss Pandora for Pandora’s Box in Bournemouth. She has also been chosen this year as an ambassador for Miss Pin Up UK.

Raven is a Graduate of the Secrets of the Boudoir Burlesque Course and you could say, she is a star pupil. Having set foot on the stage for the first time at the beginning of 2012, Raven has already been a part of some of Britain’s most prestigious shows, performing in places such as Madame Jojo’s in London. Fast becoming a big name on the British Burlesque scene, Raven is going places and is soon to become an international starlet. This August, Raven will debut her much anticipated faberge egg act at Supernova so that Secrets fans can see it before anyone else!

Breaking Into The Burlesque World

Are you a new Burlesque Performer just starting out in the big wide world of Burlesque? Do you need advice on how to crack the Industry?

Secrets of the Boudoir Burlesque understands how daunting it can be when you are a newer performer looking to tread the boards and how difficult it is to source advice on this subject and gain more bookings.

With this in mind, we have put together a lesson that covers everything from how to break into the Burlesque  Industry to what to do when you secure that first booking. Originally, this lesson was for the Secrets of the Boudoir Burlesque Course class members only, but we have since found out that this is a problem for a lot of newer performers throughout the industry and within the UK, so we have decided to give this advice to anyone who wants it.

The lesson then gives you the chance to partake in a Q&A with Secrets Founder, Burlesque Performer, Teacher and Pin Up Model Deadly Nightshade. Deadly has six years performance experience and five years experience of casting for and putting on successful shows within the UK so she knows all about what a potential Promoter is looking for from a performer and the best ways to get your application noticed.

You can even partake in the lesson from the comfort of your own home with a Facetime session, wherein all handouts will be emailed to you, so that you can print them and keep them with you, alternatively, if you live locally (South Yorkshire), you can enjoy a personal lesson with Deadly Nightshade in her home (coffee and tea provided.)

Fan Dancing with Missy Malone

Secrets of the Boudoir Burlesque are proud to be hosting a one-off, 90 minute Fandance skills workshop with Missy Malone, covering the basics and useful tips for beginners and the experienced performer alike. Missy Malone has 8 years professional experience performing Fandance so this is a unique opportunity to learn from one of the best in the business in a relaxed and fun environment. This is not a burlesque stripping workshop and will not include tassel-twirling or nudity. The workshop will also include a Q&A with Missy. Boys also welcome at these workshops but you'll be expected to take part – no observers! Fans will be provided but if you have your own set, please bring them along! Pole Dancing Workshop

Secrets of the Boudoir Burlesque are proud to announce that we will be holding a Pole Dancing Workshop on Saturday the 2nd of March 2013. 

The class will be taught by Personal Trainer and Pole Dancing Boylesquer, Sir Midnight Blues, who will also be appearing at our Fifth Birthday Show the day after this Workshop!

Magnificently Macabre

Magnificently Macabre are makers of one-off unique hair accessories, headpieces, jewellery and burlesque pasties and they will be joining us at The Leadmill this Saturday in our show 'Supernova 2'. This company can cater to all styles from rockabilly and pin-up to gothic and lolita and  they also make custom bespoke pieces from creepily cute zombie headbands to decadent gothic miniature hats and burlesque fascinators.

"I started modelling in April 2011 under the name "Madame Zara" and found that hair accessories I wanted for shoots were not readily available. The concepts and ideas I had in my head were nothing like the accessories I could buy, and so I turned to making my own for shoots. I then found that people showed interest and commented on them and so I decided to share my designs with others, and that's when 'Magnificently Macabre- by Madame' was born."

'The Emporium of Delights' is a brand new company who will be selling products created by Arcanum Accessories at our event, 'Secrets of the Boudoir Burlesque Supernova 2' this January.

Arcanum Accessories are an established international company based in the UK. They create wonderful accessories for your hair along with belts, bracelets, rings, and a selection of latex lingerie accessories. Let Them Eat Cake

'Let Them Eat Cake' are a Sheffield based cupcake company who have baked cupcakes for the likes of Peter Andre and Beverley Knight, as well as the cast of BBC1's 'The Hustle'. Making individual cupcakes by hand, they bake and decorate their cupcakes the same day so that they arrive fresh and scrumptious, and they will be baking a whole batch to bring to Secrets of the Boudoir Burlesque Supernova this month.

Let Them Eat Cake cupcakes are available in an array of delicious flavours from the traditional to the not so traditional: Choose from decadent fondant to the sweetest frosting! This January, come to Secrets of the Boudoir Burlesque to see the brightest stars in the burlesque sky shining  on our stage in our spectacular 'Supernova' event.

Taking place in Sheffield's oldest live music venue, The Leadmill.
